The House Next Door is a horror film that was co-written and directed by Milind Rau in 2017. The movie was shot in Tamil and Hindi and stars Siddharth and Andrea Jeremiah, with Siddharth serving as co-producer and co-writer. The film was released on November 3, 2017, and received largely positive reviews in all languages, turning it into a commercial success. The movie was also dubbed in Telugu as "Gruham" and released on November 17.

The film's plot starts with a series of events in 1934, depicting the happy life of a mother and her daughter. In present-day 2016, Dr. Krishnakanth Acharya, a successful neurosurgeon, and his wife Lakshmi live peacefully in their beautiful house under the mountains in Rosina Valley. Their perfect life is disrupted when a family moves into the house next door, where the mother and daughter lived in 1934. Jennifer D'Costa, an unquiet teenager and the neighbor of Krish and Lakshmi, lost her mother at a young age and has turned into a rebel. One day, soon after shifting to the new house, Jennifer comes to meet Lakshmi with her half-sibling Sarah and befriends her. She is immediately attracted to Krish's charm and attempts to get close to him. That night, while exploring the house, Krish saves Jennifer after she jumps into a well.

Jennifer's rebellious nature leads her to do things like smoking, and during one such time, she picks up some things of a dead person. Soon after her family moves into the house, Jennifer starts to behave oddly. Her father contacts a stranger named Paul, but he refuses to take any help from him. So, Jennifer's father Paul D'Costa, with Krish's recommendation, contacts Dr. Prasad. After Jenny tells Dr. Prasad that someone is telling her to leave the house and strange incidents have occurred, he concludes that she has developed paranoia with visual and auditory visions. They arrange a hypnotherapy session where Jenny tells them it's Li-Jing and not her who has gone to the hills.

A series of paranormal incidents occur, affecting the lives of the people around Jennifer. The new house is affected by three ancient Chinese spirits, including a bloodthirsty man and a mother-daughter pair who try to help the family leave the house. Still, they refuse to do so, and Paul calls a pastor to perform an exorcism on Jennifer, which leaves him in a coma and Krish and Paul heavily injured. Later, when everything is believed to be fine, Lakshmi becomes pregnant, and the maid in Paul's house disappears. Paul agrees to call the stranger, who reveals that the spirit of the mother and daughter is asking them to leave. He also discovers the bodies where they were buried. Krish accompanies Dr. Prasad when he visits a lady from a neighboring village to learn about what happened to Paul's house 80 periods ago. The lady reveals that Lu Wei, the man of the house, killed her daughter to get a baby boy.

The movie takes a major twist towards the end when Dr. Prasad is killed as he understands that not only is Jennifer possessed by the woman's spirit, but Lu-Wei has possessed Krish to fulfill his aborted work 80 periods ago.
